While it didn’t show on the scoreboard, Ringgold girls soccer coach Olivia Wilkerson said her team won Monday night.

Despite her feelings, Belle Vernon Area picked up a 4-0 win at Joe Montana Stadium to inch closer to a second straight section championship.

Jillian Butchki continued her goal-scoring onslaught, finishing with a hat trick to lead the way for the Leopards (9-2, 8-0).

The game was a lot different than the first meeting between the two teams when BVA won 9-1.

“Ringgold has definitely improved since the first time we played,” Leopards coach Tracy Lovett said. “We knew they were going to come out hard. It was their senior night and they came out here to win. Their keeper was fantastic and she made some saves that honestly, I think they should have been goals for us.”
