In a time when many children in the Mon Valley face the prospect of heading to school each morning without clean clothing — or maybe they lack the personal hygiene products they need — Ringgold Middle School teachers and counselors have found a way to help.

About a year ago, math teacher Jen Czaniecki and guidance counselor Amy Lucas started talking to principal James Klugh about starting a Care Closet at the middle school.

“Basically, the way it was proposed, people in need of things could shop for free,” Klugh said.

The Care Closet contains just about anything a middle school student could need — clothing, outerwear, school supplies, personal hygiene supplies, underwear, deodorant, shoes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, bodywash and more in its jam-packed cabinets.
