Forward Township supervisors moved a step closer Monday to adopting the International Property Maintenance Code, voting to advertise their intent to adopt the code enforcement tool.

Residents in the audience were divided in their support of the possible new ordinance which will address interior and exterior property maintenance issues.

Resident Jynx Scagline, who said she would like to be able to sell her house some day, welcomes the possibility of additional enforcement powers for the township, saying she has dealt with issues of junk vehicles and debris on neighboring property, some of which is not covered by current ordinances.

Scagline noted that Elizabeth Township has more ordinances that give the municipality more enforcement power.
