Discussion about illness and injury surrounding vaping and the use of electronic cigarettes has been dominating news headlines and social media feeds over the past month, and Serra Catholic High School has taken notice.

School spokeswoman Sarah Arbogast said Serra Catholic administrators have observed the trend of people under 18 using vapes and e-cigarettes, and parents are concerned about whether their kids are vaping and what dangers they are taking on by doing so.

That’s why the school is hosting an event on the subject, “Vaping: What Every Parent Needs to Know,” at the high school, located at 200 Hershey Drive in McKeesport, from 6:30  to 8 p.m. Oct. 8.

The event, which will feature an informative presentation and discussion from Breathe Pennsylvania, is free and open to the public. Parents who do not have to have a child who attends Serra Catholic are welcome to attend.
