The first two weeks of the high school football season have gone pretty well for California with wins over rivals Beth-Center and Monessen.

Friday night brought a different week but the same result, with the Trojans steamrolling Avella, 47-0, for a third straight victory.

“We did a lot of good things tonight, but by no means are we perfect,” said California assistant coach Royce Sofran, who was subbing in for head coach Ed Woods, who had a family event. “We have to clean some things up and fight for that consistency every week. We are getting some guys back (from injuries) and we are excited to see what this team can do every Friday night. I love our focus level.”

Cal scored on its opening five possessions and outgained Avella, 348-108, in the contest.
