As winter weather begins to move into the area, students in the Ringgold School District won’t need to worry about making up snow days. The district has been approved to participate in flexible instructional days.
They will allow students to remain safe at home with pre-arranged classwork when the weather is too severe. Because students will have class assignments, the days will count as instructional days and will not need to be made up.
Also at Wednesday’s meeting, the Ringgold school board voted against seeking court approval for the sale of the former race track property owned by the district. School director Maureen Ott made a motion to have a sales agreement drawn up for $55,000, which would need court approval because it would be a private sale of public property.
School director Lawrence Mauro raised objections to the action, saying there have been issues since the first time the district tried to auction the real estate and the high bidder backed out of the deal.
