Clairton’s hopes of heading to Hershey were dashed Friday night with a 13-10 loss to Farrell in the PIAA Class A semifinals at North Allegheny.
Miscues hindered the Bears (11-3) all night as they either turned the ball over on downs or committed a turnover eight times in the Steelers’ territory.
“There you go, that’s it. That’s the game,” Clairton head coach Wayne Wade said. “For any team to do that and still be in the football game, that’s a heck of a football team. We just didn’t have it tonight.”
Clairton finished the game with five total turnovers, including a pair of first-half fumbles inside Farrell’s 10-yard line.
Clairton quarterback Brendan Parsons started the game hot, completing 4 of 4 passes for 67 yards and a 33-yard first-half touchdown throw to Kenlein Ogletree, who made a phenomenal leaping catch between a pair of Farrell (13-2) defenders.
The second half was a different story, however, as Parsons completed 4 of 14 passes for 48 yards and three interceptions. All the picks occurred in Farrell real estate.
“This was probably one of our worst games of the year,” Wade said. “We didn’t play our best game tonight and we played against a good football team.”
