Rostraver Township property owners will see another year with no tax increase, making 2020 the 16th consecutive year the budget featured no tax hikes.
Monday night’s special meeting made the 2020 budget official. Revenues for the coming year will total $7,771,560 and combined expenditures will amount to $7,771,405. A surplus of $155 is expected to remain.
The combined revenues and expenditures from 2019 were slated to total $7,462,995 –– more than $300,000 less than 2020’s spending plan.
Township commissioners passed the tax ordinance that keeps taxes at a stagnant 15 mills, or $1.50 on every $100 of assessed value.
Voting on the measures were Commission Chairman Devin DeRienzo, Commissioners Gary Beck Sr. and Gary Litvany. Commissioners Ray Iacoboni and Henry Boldyzar Jr. were absent.
The meeting marked Litvany’s final night as a commissioner. Commissioner-elect John Lorenzo will be taking the seat when he is sworn in at the Jan. 6 reorganization meeting.
A commissioner will need to take Litvany’s place on the Mid-Mon Valley Transit Authority as the board representative beginning in January. The board was not prepared to make an appointment decision at last night’s meeting, and will address the position at the Jan. 6 meeting.
