Property owners in Versailles don’t need to worry about a municipal property tax increase in 2020, according to council President Lisa Fleckenstein.

Although council didn’t provide detailed information about the budget, Fleckenstein said at Tuesday’s meeting that “We do not intend on increasing the millage rate.”

Council unanimously voted Tuesday to schedule and advertise for two special meetings to vote on the budget. At 6 p.m. Dec. 16, council will present its preliminary 2020 budget. At 6 p.m. Dec. 30, council will vote on whether or not to approve the final budget.

During council’s discussion about scheduling the special meetings, Councilwoman Linda Sheedy said “I just want to ask, are we going to have any money left over in the budget?”
