As promised in November, Roscoe Mayor Tom Wilkinson brought together legislators and organizations that could make consolidation — or a merger — of the Five-Town Region a reality.

The towns were first called together in October to discuss the possibility of forming one large township, borough or small city.

Residents from the five communities met again in November, where they expressed their frustrations and hope for a better future for their towns.

They asked Wilkinson to gather the people who could make one of the biggest mergers in state history possible. On Thursday, he delivered.

More than 60 residents and officials from all five communities — Roscoe, Elco, Dunlevy, Stockdale and Allenport — gathered in the Stockdale Fire Department Social Hall to hear from representatives at the local, county, state and federal levels, all of whom seem to support the move.
