Ringgold nearly knocked Uniontown down a spot in the Section 3-4A standings, but the Rams were done in by shoddy free throw shooting, especially late, as the Red Raiders escaped with a 71-67 win to remain in first place.
“It was a good game all the way through,” Ringgold coach Phil Pergola said. “It’s like every game in this section. Two good teams battling.”
After trailing 35-29 at the half, the Rams took control by outscoring the Red Raiders, 23-15, in the third quarter to carry a 52-50 lead into the final eight minutes.
“We stopped them a few times and we were able to score,” Pergola said of the third quarter. “From start to finish, it was a game of runs.”
