Frazier’s Thayne Lawrence made history Saturday, becoming only the 29th wrestler to win four WPIAL championships, dating back to the 1930s.

Lawrence, a Lehigh recruit, also won his fourth section title over the weekend.

The Commodores senior dominated the 160-pound field in both tournaments, easily disposing of McGuffey’s Ethan Barr, 9-0, in the WPIAL championship match.

“It’s been an incredible ride being able to sit in Thayne’s corner and watch him grow,” said third-year Commodores coach Buck Watkins. “I watched a boy become a man and a history-maker become a legend. He cemented his legacy in Frazier history and the history of the WPIAL.”
