For the MVI

Elizabeth Township Historical Society will host “A Speakeasy Night” to note the start of Prohibition 100 years ago. This “fun-raising” and fundraising event  will be held at 6:30 p.m. March 7 at Muddy Waterz, 300 E. Smithfield Street, Elizabeth Township.

Roaring ’20s attire is encouraged to complement the period hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and DJ playing favorites like “Ain’t Misbehavin,” “Makin’ Whoopee,” Bee’s Knees” and “Happy Days are Here Again.”

ETHS members Marilyn Backus and Andy Kildow will give Charleston dance lessons.

“Friends can jump into the photo booth to capture a memory of this night to travel back in time,” said Debbie Popp Gilbert, ETHS vice president who is on the planning committee with ETHS President Linda Bennett, Vaughn Gilbert, Cheryl Copeland, Jeremy McCracken and Heather Cope, owner of Muddy Waterz.
