McKeesport head coach Eric Smith knew his girls basketball team was in for a dogfight Monday at Ringgold.

Despite dropping the first meeting to the Tigers, 55-19, the Rams didn’t back down in the teams’ second Section 3-4A meeting.

McKeesport faced an emotional roller coaster and had to overcome some adversity, but the Tigers were able to pull out a 59-47 win at Ringgold.

“Honestly, I think the players and maybe the staff were under the assumption that this game was going to be the same as the last game,” Smith said. “But Lindsy (Muchnock) has these girls playing hard and in some close games. And they have a couple girls that match up physically with us. This was a tough challenge for our girls tonight.”
