Elizabeth Township is seeking letters of interest from residents and business owners who would like to be on the steering committee for the comprehensive plan.

The plan will be the guiding document for the township over the next 10 years, according to Commission Chairman Kyle Walk, and it is important that interested people are able to commit to the project. Carolyn Yagle, director of planning and policy for Environmental Planning and Design, the Pittsburgh firm hired to prepare the comprehensive plan, said the committee will be expected to meet on a regular basis.

“We need for this group to come together about once a month and have consistent participation so we can keep the dialogue moving forward,” she said.

“This is really super important,” Walk added. “We are very excited about this.”

The commissioners voted unanimously to advertise for letters of interest. In answer to a question posted by a member of the public, Walk said the steering committee, which was appointed more than a year ago before the consulting firm was hired, has been disbanded and the township is starting fresh with a new committee.
