Larry G. Lenzi, 74, of Monongahela, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, in the East Liverpool City Hospital, East Liverpool, Ohio, due to injuries suffereded in an automobile accident. He was born April 4, 1946, in New Eagle, the son of the late Geno and Marie Shaffer Lenzi. Larry retired as an electrician in 2000 from U.S. Steel, Clairton Works, and was currently employed at Auto Plus in Monongahela. He served our country in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War. His memberships include St. Andrew the Apostle Parish and B.P.O. Elks Lodge #455, both of Monongahela, James C. Ford American Legion Post #949 in Dunkirk, where he enjoyed playing in the Friday night euchre league, and the former IMBS Club in Black Diamond. Larry could be seen in the Mon Valley riding around in his 1969 Dodge Dart. He especially liked watching drag races with his family at Keystone Raceway Park in New Alexandria. In his neighborhood and throughout town, Larry was known as the “Pajama Man” because after he got home from work, he put on his pajama bottoms and slippers and went everywhere in them! If you knew Larry, you knew that he had a passion for telling a good joke and making you laugh. He loved spending time with his dogs, listening to oldies, dancing, going to car shows and camp. He will be missed by all who truly knew and loved him. Larry is survived by his wife, Cynthia Chambers Lenzi, with whom he celebrated 51 years of marriage on April 12, 2020; three sons, Larry G. Lenzi Jr. of Monongahela, Jeffrey A. and wife Julianne Lenzi of Coal Center and Shaun R. Lenzi of Monongahela; two daughters, Amy L. Ward of Donora and Nicole R. Lenzi of Monongahela; nine grandchildren, Chelsea, Larry III, Jeffrey Jr. and fiancée Aaryss Cooper, Dylan, Brianna, Shaun G., Addisyn and Seth Lenzi and Kaitlyn Ward and fiancé Marcus Hofmann; two great-grandchildren, Leo and Kylionna Lenzi; sister, Diana and husband Samuel Filippelli of Plum Borough; brother-in-law, David and wife Alice Chambers; two sisters-in-law, Carol and husband Bill Brown and Denise Chambers, all of Monongahela; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Kathleen “Hoppy” and her husband Dennis Korzinski; and brother-in-law, George Chambers. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2020, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 West Main St., Monongahela. A blessing service will be held during the visitation period at 7 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Douglas Boyd officiating. Face masks MUST be worn and social distancing maintained in the funeral home.
