The Washington Township board of supervisors on Wednesday approved the 2021 tentative budget.
Supervisor Chuck Yusko said the balanced budget, which shows $1,830,900 in expenditures, does not come with a tax increase.It will be on display at the township building for 20 days.
In a personnel matter, supervisors will advertise for a road crew position.
“We had a guy retire,” Yusko said. “We just can’t work with two guys. … We have a lot of projects going on and its just not safe to have two guys working on busy roads.”
He said the road crew often needs a third worker to direct traffic. The position pays $17 per hour. Applicants must have a commercial driver’s license. Yusko said the board hopes to hire someone in December.
In another road crew matter, Yusko said there was recently an issue with the township’s leaf collection truck, which is out for repairs. Supervisor Scott Hileman, who is road master, said the crew is still picking up leaves manually, so residents can still call the road crew with requests.
“Bear with us, we’ll get to them,” Hileman said.
