Renovations to the former Rostraver Middle School are nearing completion, with the Belle Vernon Area school board authorizing the final purchase for the renovations during Monday’s meeting.

Replacement flooring will be purchased from Mannington Commercial at a cost of $70,519. Director Kathleen Forte cast the lone no vote.

“I believe we need to be putting our money elsewhere,” Forte said.

Facilities chairman Joel Whiteko said he visited the building Friday and saw that all the ceiling tile had been completed. The windows are being finished this week.

“The flooring will be the final step,” he said. “Within 30 days we won’t be voting on things for Rostraver Middle School.”

One final item that remains undecided is the name for the renovated former school, which will be used as a district meeting space and athletic locker room facility, among other things. The facilities committee will meet in April to discuss the matter.
