A local economic development organization found a way to create a win-win situation for first responders in the Mon Valley who have pushed through the struggles of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Mon Valley Alliance Foundation recently received a $5,000 donation from the N. David and Janet M. Campbell Family Foundation to support local restaurants and community first responders.

The money from the grant was used to purchase 250 gift cards from several locally owned restaurants to distribute to police and fire departments across the Mon Valley. The gesture is a show of thanks for their hard work and dedication to their communities throughout the pandemic.

MVA Foundation CEO Ben Brown said it was important to stand with restaurants and local first responders.

“We are pleased to be able to show our support for the tireless work of our local first responders while also supporting many of the locally owned and operated restaurants in the Mon Valley,” Brown said. “Given the difficulties of the past year for local restaurants and the additional demands on our first responders, we developed the gift card program to maximize the benefits of this donation.”
