Just before 6 p.m. Monday, both Monessen volunteer fire departments were called to the 600 block of Reed Avenue for a residential fire. The fire started in the kitchen and was knocked down fairly quickly. Also assisting on the scene were Carroll Township, Charleroi, North Belle Vernon, Monessen police and Mon Valley EMS.
