The Belle Vernon, Elizabeth Forward and Connellsville track teams each turned in some strong individual efforts during Tuesday’s triangular meet at Connellsville Stadium. However, Belle Vernon stole the show on the team side by sweeping the girls meet and the boys meet in Section 2 (3A).

In the girls meet, Belle Vernon beat Connellsvile, 96-53 and topped EF, 120-25. Connellsville beat EF, 79.5-51.5. On the boys side, the Leopards defeated the Falcons, 86-64 and the Warriors, 90-59. Connellsville defeated EF, 102-48.

Leading the way for Belle Vernon was Grace Henderson, who finished with four first-place finishes. Henderson won the 3200 (12:18.5), 1600 (5:27.9), 800 (2:30.3) and high jump (5-3).

“I was pretty happy with everything,” Henderson said, noting that she was running for potential high seeds in Saturday’s Tri-State Invitational at West Mifflin. “I wanted to push myself and get loose. In the high jump, the 5-3 is a (personal record) for me this year, so I’m happy with that.”
