Alice “Roselyn” O’Brien, 68, of Monongahela, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, in her home. She was born Sept. 2, 1953, in Hazlehurst, Miss., the daughter of the late Clifton Earl and Hattie Belle Snelle Bell. Roselyn was raised in Mississippi and in her younger years was a substitute English teacher for middle and high school. She held the rank of second lieutenant in the U.S. Army reserves. She was a very active member of Edwards Chapel, where she printed the bulletins, composed the newsletters, taught Sunday school and was a worship leader for a long time. She was a certified lay servant and speaker of the United Methodist Church Washington District and was on the Western Pennsylvania Conference Disability Awareness Committee. Roselyn was active in many different local community theater companies and later in life made several YouTube videos with her son, Robert titled, “Whispers Of Worship.” She is survived by her husband, Robert M. O’Brien, with whom she celebrated 44 years of marriage on Nov. 20, 2020; two sons, Robert M. O’Brien II, Wayne Earl O’Brien; daughter, Amanda Rose O’Brien, all at home; granddaughter, Angel Marie Anderson; two brothers, Randy Jo Bell of Louisiana and Willie Fred Bell of Mississippi; three sisters, Nancy Wright, Peggy Brown and Geneva Williamson, all of Mississippi; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Bell. Private visitations and services were held with the Rev. Richard Roberts officiating.
