Hospitalizations rise as COVID cases surge

With hospital staff running ragged to keep up with an influx of patients as variants of COVID-19 continue to plague local communities, the New Year will pose a continued challenge for area healthcare providers.
According to the latest data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, 16,765 new cases of COVID-19 were reported across the state Wednesday, as area hospitals continue to work to keep up with patient needs and treatment.
