McKeesport to rebuild fire-damaged public works fleet

A multi-bay garage and multiple trucks that were inside were destroyed Feb. 6 after a fire at the McKeesport Public Works complex. The city’s mayor said flames engulfed the whole building.

In the wake of a devastating fire, McKeesport is working to rebuild its Public Works Department fleet.
In the first council meeting since a Feb. 6 garage fire at the public works complex, Mayor Michael Cherepko discussed the damage caused by the blaze, commended firefighters and talked about steps being taken to ensure the public works fleet is up to par as winter closes and spring projects begin.
