Carlo Borriello – Belle Vernon

Carlo Borriello, 81, of Belle Vernon, Washington Township, passed away at home surrounded by his family on April 8, 2022. He was born March 9, 1941, in the town of Cercola, a suburb of Naples, Italy, to the late Alberto Borriello and Philomena Lorenzo Borriello. His family came to the United States in 1954 and settled in Monessen, and he spent his life achieving the American Dream for himself and for his family. His first job was working at his family’s produce and Italian food store in Monessen, and he moved on to an accounting position at U.S. Steel Irvin Works and Christy Park. Always the entrepreneur, he owned and operated the Liberty Theater and a Singer Sewing Machine store in Donora, then moved on to buying or building residential and commercial real estate throughout the valley. He was a member of Saint Sebastian Church and the Knights of Columbus in Belle Vernon. Carlo was an ardent Steelers fan, and he enjoyed dancing, socializing and traveling. Most of all he loved his family, and everything he accomplished, he did for them. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rosetta Lanzetta Borriello; three children, Teresa Borriello Kikel and husband Russell, Lisa Borriello Martinelli and husband Jimmy and Alberto Borriello; six grandchildren, Adam Kikel, Alexander Kikel, Nina Kikel-Coury, Matthew Martinelli, Anthony Martinelli and Carlo N. Borriello; three great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Lila and Aiden; plus one great-grandchild on the way.
