Helena Dukery Laskey, 72, of Monongahela, formerly of Carroll Township, passed away April 24, 2022, at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. She was born in Germany Dec. 20, 1949, daughter of the late Theo Buchner, and Julia and Michael Dukery. Helena graduated from Monongahela High School in 1967 and moved to Washington, D.C., where she graduated as a dental hygienist. Helena’s work experience includes Bassi Law Firm, Hills Restaurant and Cyberdyne in New Eagle, housecleaning and Ringgold School District as a teacher’s aide and in the high school cafeteria. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Monongahela. In her younger days, Helena enjoyed league bowling, motorcycles, racing her Mustang and with her children, riding bicycles, walking and going for car cruises. After being her mother’s caregiver for 13 years, her new and most enjoyed hobby was making funny collages specific to the person she loved. She definitely loved her cats and fed the neighborhood strays. Surviving is a son, USAF Retired/Air Combat Command Sgt. William Christian Easley of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Sonja Brigette Behanna of Monongahela and Sylvia Elizabeth Laskey-Lang of North Carolina; two sisters, Bridgette and Sylvia, who reside in Germany; eight grandchildren, Brooke Marie Behanna (Zach Pochiba), Ronald Paul Behanna III (Jessica Addis), Selena, Devin and Savannah Easley and Sylvia’s children, Alize, Vincent and Isabella. Friends will be received at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022, at which time a service will begin with Pastor Frank Menheart Jr. of Blainesburg Bible Church officiating. The family encourages all to join them for Helena’s celebration party following the service until 10 p.m. at Monongahela (Black Diamond) VFW Post 1409.
