Lois Helster Dewar, 78, of Monongahela, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022, in the South Hills Wellness and Rehab Center in Canonsburg. A daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude Strang Helster, she was born Nov. 12, 1943, in Homestead. Lois is a graduate of Duquesne High School. She worked many years as a florist at Sigler’s Floral Shop in Bethel Park and went on to retire from Model Cleaners in Monongahela and Charleroi. Lois was a member of First United Methodist Church in Monongahela. She enjoyed baking, playing cards, bowling and gardening, but her biggest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren. Surviving are a son, Kevin Dewar of Carroll Township; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra (Paul) Knepper of New Brighton and Kimberly (Ryan) Lorenzi of Carroll Township; a brother, Raymond (Dorothy) Helster of Belle Vernon; and a sister-in-law, Barbara McKelvey of Scottdale. Lois had five grandchildren, Shane Martin, Lacey (Andrew) Ball, Kolten Dewar and Gianni and Luca Lorenzi; two great-grandchildren, Paisley Martin and Emerson Ball; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Ronald Dewar, who died July 5, 1999.
