The Rostraver Woman’s Club recently announced the winners of an essay contest in memory of longtime member and officer Marie Elaine Pirilla.
The Rostraver Woman’s Club has been participating in the arts competition offered by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs for many years. This year, in addition to reading multiple short stories and poems submitted by the students from the Belle Vernon Area schools, the club also organized the essay contest sponsored by Leonard “Skip” Pirilla. Pirilla wanted the essay contest to be open to all readers of the Mon Valley Independent regardless of age, in memory of his late wife.
