Monessen at work on tax exoneration program

The City of Monessen is still working to finalize its tax exoneration program.
Mayor Ron Mozer and Solicitor Joe Dalfonso’s work to retool the city’s tax forgiveness program has been slowed a bit by the retirement of former superintendent Dr. Leanne Spazak from the Monessen School District.
Mozer and Dalfonso have been working to fix the tax exoneration program, which began with the intent that people could buy dilapidated or simply abandoned houses in Monessen and have the back taxes waived in exchange for investing the funds into the property needed to bring it up to code.
