Youngblood a giant in local boxing fraternity

Leroy Youngblood (center) fought a total of 39 professional bouts, making his debut on Memorial Day in 1966. He died May 22.

Leroy Youngblood, originally from Rock Hill, S.C., was so accomplished as a prize fighter that he went into the ring against some formidable opponents. He was so proficient at golf, he won local and out-of-state tournaments, and he even took to the links against celebrities including Smokey Robinson and all three of the Miracles.
