There are more than 143,000 students and families across Pennsylvania who have chosen a public charter school, according to Families United for Charter Schools. With the recent incorporation of the California Academy of Learning Charter School, students in the California Area School District — and in neighboring districts up to a 10-mile radius — can add to that growing number.
