Elizabeth building saved after citizen on walk alerts firefighters

Government officials in Elizabeth are crediting the morning routine and character of one of the town’s life-long residents for saving a local business Monday morning. William “Butch” VanFosson, who lives on Church Street, walks the full length of the borough every day. When passing under the Elizabeth Bridge Monday, he smelled smoke emanating from Beer-D-Spencer, located at 201 N. Second Ave.
