Abandoned Monessen building collapsing

The former Valley Independent building on Sixth Street in Monessen partially collapsed around 7 p.m. Sunday. The building, which is abandoned and unoccupied, began to collapse during a storm, and according to Monessen municipal fire Chief Delmar Hepple, continued to fall several times while firefighters were on site.
