James ‘Mac’ McKevitt – Fayette City

James “Mac” McKevitt, 90, of Brownstown, Fayette City, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, in his residence. He was born Jan. 21, 1932, in Brownstown, Fayette City, son of Charles McKevitt and Bridgett Connell McKevitt. Mac was the barber in Fayette City for 67 years, retiring in July 2021. He belonged to numerous social clubs in the area and enjoyed playing cards at them as well as at the casinos. He is survived by three sons, Patrick McKevitt and wife Cheryl of Somerset, James McKevitt and wife Annette of Monongahela, and Brian McKevitt and wife Kellie of Somerset; twin sisters, Dolores and Kathleen Mckevitt, both of Mt. Lebanon; grandson, Patrick McKevitt and wife Natalia; granddaughter, Erin Madden and husband Jonathan; granddaughter, Jamie Varley and husband Gavin; grandson, Michael McKevitt and wife Jessica; grandson, Chase McKevitt and fiancée Andrea Dumenigo; great-grandson, Oliver McKevitt; great-granddaughter, Emma McKevitt; great-grandson, CJ Madden; great-granddaughter, Grace Varley; great-grandson, Grant Varley; and great-grandson, Troy McKevitt. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Julie Roskovich McKevitt; and two brothers, Francis C. Mckevitt and Charles “Bud” Mckevitt. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, at ELEY-MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME, Fayette City, www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Prayers of transfer will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home followed by funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with Father Michael Crookston as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Connellsville.
