Michael Thomas McGinley – Clearwater Beach, Fla., formerly of Charleroi and Belle Vernon

Michael Thomas McGinley, 61, of Clearwater Beach, Fla., formerly of Charleroi and Belle Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, at Eagle Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation in Saint Petersburg, Fla. He was born in Pittsburgh on Nov. 3, 1961, son of John McGinley and the late Elizabeth Harosky McGinley. He was a member of St. Sebastian Church in Belle Vernon. In addition to his mother, Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Howard and Mathilda McGinley; maternal grandparents, Ladis and Jennie Harosky; and his brother, Jack McGinley. Mike attended the wonderful Clelian Heights School in Greensburg for many years, not only for classroom instruction but learning life skills as a part of Chip’s House on their campus. Their contribution to Mike’s life and their care of him was exemplary. The gratitude his family has for this school and their staff is immense. Mike was also a competitive swimmer in the Special Olympics, winning numerous gold, silver and bronze medals. He competed not only regionally in Greensburg but earned a place at the PA state championships several times. Mike was a fierce competitor who gave it his all every time he swam, regardless of if it was the actual race or not! Michael was lovingly referred to as the Corporate Ambassador for McGinley Maintenance Inc. His main duties were to charm the clients and staff, take naps, and remind someone to order pizza for lunch. He excelled in this position. Mike loved all things Elvis; delighting audiences with his floor shows, singing, strumming his guitar, swiveling his hips and shaking a leg just like the king. Mike also loved scary movies, cheeseburgers, t-shirts, temporary tattoos, old sitcoms, any swimming pool and the ocean. But nothing gave Mike more joy than being with his family and making them laugh. His sense of humor was unique and amazingly funny. Mike was the life of every party. His was a kind and gentle soul that only knew love, joy and happiness. He was a friend to everyone who was lucky enough to meet him. Surviving to cherish his memory are his father, John McGinley; a sister, Marcia McGinley of Fla.; four brothers, Neil McGinley of Ga., Patrick (Gail) McGinley of Md., Mark (Patty) McGinley of Monongahela and James McGinley of White Oak; sister-in-law, Joan McGinley of Greensburg; nieces and nephews, Tim (Aimmie) McGinley, Megan (Darrell) Morgan, Molly McGinley, Beth McGinley, Brian McGinley, Katie (Mike) Cerra, Laura (Roy) Bailey, Kevin McGinley, Chris (Jessica) McGinley and Greg McGinley; great-nieces and great-nephews, Patrick McGinley, Libby McGinley, Max Morgan, Samantha Morgan, Jack Bailey, June Bailey and Cole Cerra. Mike will also be dearly missed by all those who loved him at Clelian Heights School in Greensburg, McGinley Maintenance, Lee Supply, the Bocce Club and the Italian Club in Charleroi, Mon Valley Country Club in Monongahela, the Palm Pavilion and Frenchy’s on Clearwater Beach, and the entire Martinet family.
