Valley cleans up after destructive storm

Traveling south on Route 88 through the small riverside communities of Roscoe, Elco, Stockdale and Allenport, damage from Sunday’s hail storm may appear minimal. However, when you turn in the opposite direction and head north back toward Charleroi, homes and businesses — specifically with vinyl siding — look like they were hit with rounds and rounds of ammunition. Bullets didn’t fly Sunday, but hail the size of golf balls did, pelting buildings, homes, garages and vehicles in the Washington County communities and causing thousands of dollars in damage.
