Defensive stand puts BVA in PIAA title game

Time and time again, Belle Vernon Area’s defense has made clutch plays, and it happened again Friday in the biggest game of the season. After forcing a turnover on downs with under five minutes remaining to get the ball back with a four-point lead, the Leopards (11-2) had flashbacks to an early-season loss when Quinton Martin fumbled possession away to Central (12-3) with 4:31 left to play. But this time, things went in the Leopards’ favor in a 21-17 PIAA Class 3A semifinal victory over the District 6 champions from Central.
