Haley (Bashada) McLaughlin, a Spanish teacher at California Area High School, is an official hero. Surrounded by a group of her students on Friday, she was recognized by local State Farm agent Dax Thomas for her designation as one of 11 educators across the country that will be recognized this year with the National Liberty Museum’s annual Teacher as Hero Awards. Sponsored by State Farm, the Teacher as Hero Awards recognize outstanding educators from across the country who represent best practices in teaching and serve as role models for their colleagues and students. Educators will be honored Saturday during a virtual awards ceremony.
