Leaders seek solutions at Monessen summit

State, federal, county, local and philanthropic leaders converged on Monessen Friday morning for the city’s first economic summit, and one of the strong themes throughout the discussions was the idea that money means nothing without a plan. State Sen. Camera Bartolotta, R-Carroll Township, dropped by even though Monessen isn’t in her district because she wanted to support state Sen. Kim Ward, R-Hempfield, who was unable to attend in person. Bartolotta talked about one of her first political connections being made with former mayor Lou Mavrakis, who lauded her from the audience.
