It was a frenetic, fast-paced start for the Serra Catholic boys’ basketball team in its WPIAL Class 2A first-round matchup at home against Nazareth Prep Tuesday night. And that’s the exact pace the Eagles like to play at. No. 7 Serra exploded for 43 first-half points on the strength of its press and transition game before withstanding a fourth-quarter surge by No. 10 Nazareth Prep to take a 79-68 win in its opening-round contest.
