Monessen: Council gets update on city’s blight strategy

The work to create a blight plan for the City of Monessen is ongoing, and a draft of the plan should be ready soon. Tom Hardy, the city’s blight consultant, was hired last year with the help of funding from the Department of Community and Economic Development and the Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania. Hardy, managing partner of consulting agency Palo Alto Partners, has worked with the zoning hearing board and the blighted property review board to design a blight plan for the city and got started last June.
