You don’t have to live in paradise -— or be a professional carpenter — to learn more about how to build a ukulele.

The Mon Valley Academy for the Arts will host Dr. Darrell Smith, a highly accomplished woodworker and musician from Brownsville, for a demonstration on constructing ukuleles from scratch later this month.

Residents will feel an island-like breeze on July 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Peter J. Daley Cultural Center (MVAA South) in Brownsville, guests can learn about the construction process of this unique instrument while also learning more about its history and development.
