Playoff shootouts have not been kind to the Belle Vernon Area boys soccer program in the past few seasons. This year’s team had enough of that. The fifth-seeded Leopards beat No. 12 East Allegheny, 3-2, outlasting the Wildcats, 4-3, in a shootout to claim a WPIAL Class 2A first-round win on The Beach at James Weir Stadium.
