James H. Fulmer – Dunlevy

James H. Fulmer, 89, of Dunlevy, passed away on Feb. 21, 2024, at the Mon Valley Care Center. He was born on Oct. 31, 1934, in Harrison City to the late Sherman and Mary Gelet Fulmer. Jim graduated from Penn Township High School, which is now Penn Trafford High School. He worked at PPG in Greensburg prior to his service in the United States Army, in which he was stationed from 1956-58 in Fort Carson, Colo., and then in Germany.  After his military service, he began a career as a delivery driver for Braun’s Baking Company of Greensburg. He then transferred to the Braun’s facility in Dunlevy when he became a resident there in 1966. He finally met and married the love of his life, Joan Pohlot Kiefer Fulmer, and they wed on Jan. 22, 1975. Joan preceded him in death on March 18, 2023. During their 48 years of marriage, they enjoyed many trips to casinos in Pennsylvania, Atlantic City and Las Vegas and always enjoyed eating out. He always enjoyed his Halloween birthday parties and eating everything and anything. Jim and his late wife, Joan, had always enjoyed shopping and dining out and loved pizza and wings, liver and onions, chili, breakfast biscuits and Wendy’s. With the help of Sue and Dave Shaver, Jim and Joan worked to control and find homes for feral cats. Jim also loved caring for his yard and gardening, especially growing onions and tomatoes. Jim was the youngest of three children, and was preceded in death by his sister, Lorraine Lochner; and a brother, Sherman Fulmer Jr. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Ann and Wilbur Clark; and beloved pets, Ladybug, Grabow and Samantha. Surviving are his sister-in-law, Judy Pohlot of Monessen; and his Monessen friends, Mary Ann Miceli and Bill Hines; his pet friends, Dayton, Star, Jax and Bigsby; his Washington friends, Pam Hunnell and Denise and Darlene Vselton; his beloved Dunlevy neighbors, who cared for him like family, including Jen, Jason and Tucker Celaschi and Eileen and Matt Claybough and daughters, Brittany and Maria, Sara and Cal and Bailey and Craig Bartolozzi; and finally feline “townie” friends, Marco and Breeze, whom he and Joan cared for over many years. We are greatly appreciative of the nursing care he received at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital and the Mon Valley Care Center. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday with Father Fred Pfeil officiating. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery of Monessen.
