Washington County creates blight mitigation and demolition fund program

The Washington County Board of Commissioners approved a blight mitigation and demolition fund program at Thursday’s meeting. The approved funds are directed from the American Rescue Plan Act. “Addressing blight is essential to sustaining healthy communities, economic development and the quality of life in Washington County,” Chairman Nick Sherman said. “Blighted communities are liabilities that drain municipal resources and inhibit economic growth. They also bring despair and a negative image to the community.”
