Antoinette ‘Nettie’ Stillitano – Charleroi

Antoinette “Nettie” Stillitano, 80, of Charleroi, died April 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 26, 1943, to the late Pete and Frances Pappaluca Stillitano.   Nettie graduated from Charleroi High School in 1961. She continued her education at California State College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. Nettie then received her master’s degree in elementary education from Duquesne University in 1969. Nettie taught elementary school in the Monessen and Charleroi school districts for 36 years, where she impacted the lives of the many students that she loved. Nettie was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Charleroi, where she sang with the choir for many years. She was the past president of the CWCC and BPW. She was also the former treasurer of the Charleroi Teachers Union, a member of her class reunion committee and she belonged to the NEA and PSEA. In her spare time, Nettie enjoyed gardening, spending time at the meadows, watching sports (especially as a Steelers season ticket holder), and trying her luck on scratch-offs. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her Brittany and their “baby,” Winnie. Nettie is survived by her daughter, Brittany Mucy; her cousin, Pam Heckman; and her dog, Winnie. She is also survived by numerous cousins and friends. Along with her parents, Nettie was preceded in death by her sister, Carmen Stillitano. Friends and family will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2024, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2024, at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Charleroi site, 624 Washington Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nettie’s name to the Washington Area Humane Society, the Charleroi Area School District Education Foundation or St. Andrew the Apostle Church.
