BVA’s Ross ties school record with 20 strikeouts

Belle Vernon senior pitcher Talia Ross will likely miss the rest of the season after rupturing her Achilles tendon. The Lock Haven commit was injured during live batting practice Wednesday, according to head coach Tom Rodriguez.

Belle Vernon’s softball team continued its dominant start to the season Saturday with a 7-0 triumph over Latrobe behind lights-out pitching from Talia Ross. The senior posted a whopping 20 strikeouts, tying the school record for a seven-inning game set by Bailey Parshall in 2018. Ross fanned the first 19 batters for the Wildcats (1-3) before a fly out and another strikeout gave the unbeaten Leopards their fifth victory of the season. They begin section play Wednesday at Laurel Highlands.
